A Shifting Paradigm

In this publication, we highlight both the technology and the innovation of those in the fine art and photography markets. Beginning on page four, we speak with several of the media manufacturers to discuss how to choose the best paper for a fine art image. Continuing on page seven, we delve into the finishing aspect of the digital fine art world, where correct techniques and materials are essential to creating a long-lasting fine art print.

The last three articles all focus on three fine artists and photographers and how they've shifted into the digital space. Landscape photographer and fine art printer Mark Andrews creates masterpieces that stretch the boundaries of art, décor, and photography. Roswell, GA-based Gallery Street has merged art and technology, creating giclée prints that, in many cases, match the original paintings. And finally, Steven Katzman recently completed two very ambitious projects that show the tremendous diversity in his work and the capabilities of digital technology.

What makes this market so interesting and captivating? It's more than just about the selling price of the printed output—although that certainly is exciting. For many, digital technology has enabled fine artists and photographers to broaden their own creative outlets, opening up new avenues to explore.

I hope this publication whets your appetite at the possibilities digital technology offers fine artists and photographers while also providing the inspiration to create new and expressive forms of art.
