"Seeing is believing!" That's what Peter Salaverry, CEO of SkinzWraps Inc. says sold him on the new Epson Stylus Pro GS6000. "We were looking at adding a new printer to expand our volume of services. We basically looked at every machine on the market. When we heard about the new Epson printer and what it could do we were a bit skeptical at first, but after seeing it in action we were blown away by its' performance," says Salaverry.
SkinzWraps is one the top vehicle wrap companies offering a full suite of solutions from design to printing and installation. The Dallas, TX-based output provider pioneered the concept of wrapping vehicles six years ago and continues to set new standards and push this type of outdoor advertising and marketing to a higher level. Salaverry feels that the addition of his new Epson printer will raise the bar even higher.
"Epson had contacted us to do some promotional work for them for the SGIA show last year. They wanted us to wrap a Lamborghini that would be on display at their booth. They asked us to prepare a file for them at 1440x1440 dpi and they wanted it designed out of gamut! That's like walking into a car dealership and saying ‘I want an SUV that's low priced and gets 50 miles to the gallon'," he laughs.
"I thought what they were asking was impossible but we sent them the file they requested and they printed it on the Stylus Pro GS6000. When we got the graphics back we all looked at them and were amazed by the results. That sold me on the printer right there. After the show we cut a deal for the machine and we were one of the first shops in the country to have it," he adds.
Sporting Epson UltraChrome GS ink, a new solvent-based ink technology with eight individual colors, including all new orange and green inks, the Stylus Pro GS6000 is said to produce the industry's widest color gamut for output with unparalleled image quality on nearly any solvent-based media. The printer's new Dual-Array MicroPiezo AMC print head is uniquely engineered to meet the demands of high-production solvent printing and is currently the fastest 64-inch wide roll-to-roll printer in its class, with print speeds of up to 340 sqft per hour for banner-quality printing. In addition, Epson UltraChrome GS ink is a new generation of solvent-based chemistry that minimizes the impact on the environment.
"The Epson Stylus Pro GS6000 has exceeded all our expectations—it's a real game changer. It's sort of like how the iPhone has changed the entire playing field in the cell phone industry. The GS6000's use of solvent-based inks opens up a wide range of new vehicle wrapping market opportunities," says Salaverry.
"Understanding the breakthrough potential on a machine of this caliber and the impact it will have on the entire vehicle wrap market, we sought out a working relationship with Epson to provide feedback on the unique printing needs of the industry and to ensure we were staying ahead of the curve with regard to the latest technological advancements," he adds.
