Among specialty imaging firms, competition for staff is as tough a part of the marketplace as any. Key to your success is knowing what the playing field looks like, said SGIA Business Associate Alaina Harris.
"The most competitive companies stay on track with their personnel policies and benefits," said Harris.
To give members a picture of the marketplace, SGIA Surveys & Statistics conducted its biennial Personnel Practices survey, which investigated the ways specialty imaging professionals handle human resources issues ranging from health benefits to schedule. Among the results, gathered from specialty imagers around the world:
• The overwhelming majority of employers (70 percent) base overtime pay on total hours worked in a week, rather than calculating it based on the day.
• Most firms offer some type of disability insurance; 70 percent of respondents said their firms offer long-term disability insurance, and 75 percent said they offer short-term disability insurance.
